MONTGOMERY – Alabama State University junior linebacker Kourtney Berry has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Berry has been the leading tackler for the Hornets since his freshman season and this year is no different. Berry is coming off a week which saw him finish the game with Grambling State with 19 tackles. He had six solo stops and 13 assists in picking up his total. He also finished with half a tackle for loss.
The 19 stops was one off his career-high of 20 which he collected last season against the same Grambling State team.
This season Berry has a total of 47 stops (20 solo), and averages 15.7 per game. He not only leads the Hornets but leads the SWAC and is second nationally among all FCS players.
