There’s a lot of excitement about baseball this week in Capital City – as the AHSAA high school state championships are going on.
Wednesday afternoon Mobile Christian took on Randolph County at Paterson Field.
This was the first trip to the championship for both teams.
However, Randolph County has made it to the area finals 3 years in a row.
Fans say they were thrilled to cheer on their teams.
Randolph County mom Wendy Henderson has two boys playing.
“I had a new shirt for every game just about. So I came up with this one. Had ‘RCHS’ put on it and had ‘Henderson’ put on the back. Represent my boys,” said Henderson.
Mobile Christian Academy principal Joey Adams was there too.
“Really, really excited. So proud of Coach Haynes, our team, Coach Smith. It’s been a great year. And the first time we’ve been in the championship for Alabama high school for baseball. So just a great day for our whole school,” said Adams.
Mobile ended up winning 15 to 2. But they will play each other again Thursday at 10am at Riverwalk Stadium.
The best two out of three games wins.
