We heard a lot about a plan to bring a lottery to the state and expand table gaming during the session.

It never came up for a vote on the floor, but some are hoping it’s not the last we hear of the plan.

“The pluses outweigh the minuses. The good outweigh the bad. It’s something that I’m going to work as hard as I can to try to get to the people and see that it comes to fruition,” said Pat Dye.

Former Auburn Coach Pat Dye is joining business leaders from around the state to create the Alabama Jobs Foundation.

The groups main goal is making Senator Del Marsh’s gambling plan a reality.

“The alabama legislature simply will never raise taxes enough to provide a longterm solution for our financial needs. Taxes will not create jobs, however gaming and the thousands of jobs that gaming will create will have a long term impact and move us down the road to financial solvency,” said Chip Hill.

The numbers come from an Auburn Montgomery study commissioned by Marsh earlier this year. It shows 11,000 jobs and over one billion dollars in economic impact. Some senators weren’t sure just how real those numbers would be.

Coach Dye says he’s determined to keep pushing and to be the face of the issue.

“I will be for it forever. Anything that affects the state or the people, this is not about the Alabama family, this isn’t about the Auburn family, this is about the state of Alabama family,” said Dye.
