A Storm Threat Ahead For Friday

It almost feels like spring has sprung but don’t change our the wardrode just yet. There’s more cold air ahead and likely another frost early next week. It’s that time of year when cold snaps are common and waiting a bit longer to go all in on spring will pay off.

In the meantime, we begin to shift into a more active weather pattern Friday. A frontal boundary will enter the dip south and begin to slowly move through the region. Rain and storms are likely to accompany the frontal system. A few strong storms can’t be ruled out. The main threats will be damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter size hail. Rainfall potential will range between 1 to 3 inches over a Friday through Sunday period. The best chance for rain will fall on Friday and Sunday with the latest guidiance showing us we’re mainly dry Saturday. Temps during the same period will manage 70s for highs and lows in the 50s.

A true cold front will advance southward Sunday into Monday. Much colder air returns and there will the potential for frost. It’s a mainly clear and dry period with colder air settling over us. Daytime highs will drop into the 60s and morning lows in the 30s. You may want to keep those tender plants potected through this upcoming cold snap. The rest of the work week will be trending warmer with moisture on the increase late week.
