Hurricane Francine rain, wind, tornado risk increases Thursday
Hurricane Francine moves onshore along the central Louisiana coast by Wednesday evening. Heavier and more widespread rain, stronger wind gusts, and tornado risk increases for central and south Alabama late Wednesday night through Thursday. Rain remains somewhat light and scattered for our area Wednesday afternoon. High temperatures range from the 70s to low 80s, with an overcast sky otherwise.
Rain coverage and intensity increases late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Wind and wind gust speeds gradually increase. The tornado risk may begin late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, but looks greatest from about sunrise to sunset Thursday. Rain coverage, wind speeds, and tornado risk diminish Thursday night. Some clouds and some showers linger through the end of the week and weekend.
Francine may produce rain totals of 2-4″, wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph, and tornadoes across our area through Thursday night.
