Troy Univ. Celebrates Confucius Institute, Chinese New Year
The Chinese new year is about to begin and Troy University has several reasons to celebrate.
The Confucius Institute at Troy held a gala Thursday night to celebrate.
The Institute was established in 2007. It helps students learn about the Chinese culture, history and language. And this year there is a new partnership to celebrate as the Confucius Institute will expand to teach Korean.
Senator Gerald Dial says, “it’s so important to this region and so important to our economic development as we reach out to theses partners and bring more industry in. It’s better that our students have that relationship with international students so they can better relate, be better productive citizens when they go out in the community and when they go to work.”
Officials also announced the Confucius Institute is expanding to Troy’s Montgomery campus and offering the Center for International Language. Mandarin and Korean will be taught there.
