City Updates Law to Reflect State’s Beer-to-Go Law

The City wetumpka_alcohol.jpgof Montgomery is now on board with the state’s latest beer-to-go law.

The law went into effect last week.
Now breweries can sell craft beer directly to the consumer as long it doesn’t exceed 288 ounces per day.
The city council unanimously approved updating the city’s law to reflect the state law.
Mayor Todd Strange says it will help attract more people to the city.

“If you remember we were the first city in the state to have an entertainment district legislation, so from that standpoint it’s important that we do what the millennials want to do, our people that will be involved in this craft beer. We are excited about that and we do think that it continues to move Montgomery forward,” said Strange.

Craft breweries across the state will be able to sell six packs, large bottles and other containers of beer directly to consumers without having to pay distribution costs.
