Grants Received For North Montgomery Beautification Projects

grantmoney.jpgSeveral Grants have been received for beautification projects in Montgomery’s Highland Gardens Neighborhood. The grants, given by the Alabama Power Foundation, will go toward shade trees at Highland Gardens Community Center/Park and neighborhood entrance signs.

The grants were funded by the Alabama Power Foundation’s Good Roots and Gateway programs which help eligible organizations improve their communities.

These projects are part of a long-term effort to improve the quality of life for residents in North Montgomery neighborhoods that have been faced with high youth crime rates in recent years. The projects are part of the City of Montgomery Mayor’s Office North Precinct Service Provider’s Alliance which is comprised of representatives from various non-profits, schools, law enforcement, and government organizations in North Montgomery.

Highland Gardens Revitalization Project Director Ken Ward states: “Grants like these help us improve our neighborhoods so that all families, no matter their zip code, can have quality and safe places to spend time together.”

The trees and signs are scheduled to be planted and placed by the end of this year.
