Who Won the Presidential Debate?
It was a night of one liners and zingers as Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump faced off in the most watch presidential debate in history.
“I thought it was somewhat childish going back and forth like two kids,” said Sharon Spear.
Political analyst Steve Flowers says as far as who won the debate, it boiled down to who was more prepared.
“The preparation showed in Hillary Clinton’s performance. She anticipated the questions, the moderator gave her easy questions and she being a professional politician, she is able to deflect a negative question and turn it around,” said Flowers.
If you ask voters, the winner is all in the eye of the beholder.
“Definitely thought she knew what she was talking about. She went at it 100 percent. Donald …No… As she said, he didn’t prepare,” said Spear.
“He was very forthright. And very honest as he always is and he made a lot of good points that he was able to overcome, some of the points that the moderator was asking him and some of the things that Hillary said,” said Pat Wilson, Montgomery County Republican Chair.
Flowers says the race remains neck and neck and it’s all going to depend on who shows up at the polls.
“The basic Republicans that said they weren’t going to support him at first, are saying ‘I’m going to vote for him. I don’t like him, but I am going to vote for him over Hillary Clinton.’ It’s not so much the Democratic base. The whole key to the election is going to be turnout,” said Flowers.
The next presidential debate is Oct. 9th in St. Louis.
